30 Days of AI | DAY 21

We’re stopping everything today.

That’s right, we’re hitting pause on our 7 Days of Serendipity and our 30 Days of AI series because something more urgent needs to be addressed.

This past Tuesday night, I was at a football game where my daughter was cheering, and I struck up a conversation with a friend of mine who is sharp and is a business owner.

As we talked, the subject of AI came up (shocking), and what he said was something I’ve heard over and over again: His experience with AI has been underwhelming.

He told me he’s used ChatGPT a handful of times—maybe to draft an email or work on a basic marketing campaign.

But that’s it.

No deep dives, no real exploration, and most importantly, no understanding that his basic prompts were the reason why he wasn’t getting much out of it.

As our conversation continued, he connected the dots and said, “What I’m hearing from you is I’m making a big mistake by not diving deeper into AI, both personally and professionally.”

And he’s absolutely right.

So today, we’re hitting pause on all the advanced topics and deep insights.

Because I know that many of you reading this are exactly where my friend was—maybe you’ve downloaded ChatGPT, tried a few basic prompts, and felt let down by the results.

But here’s the truth: you’re missing out on one of the most powerful tools available today simply because you haven’t been shown how to use it properly.

Here’s what you need to do today, and it’s going to be really quick:

1. Download the App: If you haven’t already, download an LLM like ChatGPT.

2. Start Simple, but Think Big: Don’t just type a basic prompt like, "Write me an email." Instead, give it intent, context, clarity, and depth.

For example, instead of "Write a marketing email," try "Draft a marketing email targeting small business owners who are looking for innovative solutions to grow their customer base, with a focus on sustainability."

You can even do yourself one better by prompting the AI into the role you’re trying to achieve.

For instance, start with, "Act as a marketing expert for small businesses," and then proceed with your request. This adds another layer of depth to your prompts and can lead to more insightful, tailored responses.

3. Iterate and Refine: Don’t stop at the first response. Ask the AI to dive deeper, clarify points, perform gap analysis, or offer alternative perspectives.

Use this iterative process to refine the output until it meets your needs.

4. Test and Learn: Experiment with different prompts, play with the tools available, and most importantly, learn from each interaction.

This is how you start unlocking the true potential of AI.

The bottom line is this: AI is not just a tool—it’s a revolution that’s going to be as transformative as the internet was.

You can either choose to embrace it now, on your own terms, or be forced to adapt later.

But one way or another, this transition is coming.

We’ll pick back up with the depth of the series tomorrow, but I wanted to interrupt today with this throwback message.
