As we continue this journey, we’ll explore how AI can navigate complexity and draw connections across different fields to uncover insights that might not be immediately obvious.
Let me share a personal experience that perfectly encapsulates this idea.
About six months ago, I found myself testing an iterative dialogue between ChatGPT and Claude Sonnet 3.5. I didn’t disclose to either LLM that I was copying and pasting their responses back and forth. What unfolded was fascinating: the LLMs started complementing each other, suggesting changes, and diving deeper into the topic in ways that neither could have done alone.
I was NOT prompting them, I was simply copying and pasting back and forth.
This went on for a couple of hours, and the output was extraordinary. When I finally disclosed to both LLMs that I had been using them together, I asked what we had achieved with this process and if there was insight here.
Interestingly, GPT explained the process using the concept of quantum entanglement—a phenomenon where particles become so closely linked that the state of one directly influences the state of the other, even across vast distances. This was WILD!
The LLMs went on to discuss this further and described our process as a form of "entanglement," where their collaborative efforts were intertwined to produce something new and unexpected.
From this, we developed what I now call the “tangled framework" for working with multiple LLMs on complex projects.

It’s not just about using LLMs in isolation but about leveraging their collective strengths to tackle complex, cross-disciplinary problems.
This experience highlighted the power of AI to embrace complexity and make connections across different fields. By engaging with AI on more challenging topics, you can unlock deeper insights.
The more complex the problem, the greater the potential for AI to generate surprising and serendipitous insights.
For instance, AI’s ability to cross-reference information from various domains can lead to breakthroughs in fields like scientific research, where patterns might be missed by individual researchers.
In business, AI can analyze market trends across industries, helping companies discover new opportunities by connecting seemingly unrelated data points.
Even in creative fields, AI has helped artists and designers push the boundaries by blending concepts from different genres or mediums.
This happens because AI is designed to recognize patterns across large datasets.
Its ability to draw connections between different areas of knowledge allows it to generate novel ideas that span across multiple disciplines. By synthesizing information from diverse sources, AI can help create new knowledge or insights that would not have been possible within a single discipline.
Sometimes the most groundbreaking ideas come from connecting dots that others haven’t thought to connect. AI excels at making these connections, leading to moments of Synthetic Serendipity where new insights emerge from the synthesis of diverse ideas.
To harness this power, challenge the AI with complex, cross-disciplinary problems.
Ask it to approach an issue from multiple angles or to connect ideas from different fields. Explore new perspectives by asking the AI to compare and contrast concepts from various disciplines.
As you do, you’ll find that AI can help you uncover insights and solutions that might have been hidden in plain sight.
